When your micro:bit is plugged into your computer via USB cable, two things should happen:
- The little yellow light on the bottom of the micro:bit should come on. This means the micro:bit is receiving power.
- The micro:bit should show up as a drive in your file explorer (Windows/Chromebook) or on your desktop (Mac). If the drive is showing up as “maintenance,” see our article titled, "Why is my micro:bit is in 'maintenance mode?'"
If neither of these are happening, then there is a connection problem. The issue can often be solved by switching USB ports in the computer, or by switching out the USB cable. If that does not work, try a second micro:bit (if available) and see if that one connects.
If you are still unable to get power or see the micro:bit as a drive, then contact us at support@birdbraintechnologies.com and use the subject line “My micro:bit is not connecting to my computer.”
