The most common reason for a Hummingbird Bit to disconnect from BirdBlox is a lost bluetooth connection. In addition to the blocks becoming unresponsive, you will likely see 3 letters begin to flash on the micro:bit display, indicating that the micro:bit is no longer connected to BirdBlox. The bluetooth connection can be lost for a few reasons:
- Your tablet or smartphone fell asleep and bluetooth connection was lost. Some tablets and smartphones will not maintain bluetooth connection when asleep. This can cause the Hummingbird Bit to disconnect. In BirdBlox, you can reestablish a connection by disconnecting from your device and reconnecting it. We recommend adjusting your tablet or smartphone sleep settings as well.
- Your batteries may be low or the power connection is faulty. Low battery power will cause the Hummingbird Bit to disconnect. There is a battery life indicator in BirdBlox. Try switching out the batteries, then reconnect to BirdBlox.
- Make sure you are running the most recent version of the BirdBlox application for IOS, Android, or Kindle.
