A Bit Display test will help you quickly determine if there is a bluetooth connection between the Hummingbird Bit and your tablet or smartphone. This can be done by simply activating some lights on the Bit Display block. Tapping the top of the block will send the program to the Hummingbird Bit.
If you are unable to get a pattern to show up on your micro:bit screen, then that means one of two things:
- There was a step skipped in BirdBlox set up procedure. Either you never connected your device to BirdBlox, or the BitFirmware.hex file was not properly downloaded onto your micro:bit.
- You properly followed the BirdBlox set up procedure, but BirdBlox has unexpectedly disconnected. If BirdBlox has disconnected, you will see 3 letters will flash on your micro:bit screen. Take a look at our article titled, “Why won’t my Hummingbird Bit maintain a connection to BirdBlox?”
