If your Hummingbird Bit has disconnected from Snap!, first check to see if it has lost its bluetooth connection. If your blocks are unresponsive and the micro:bit display is flashing three letters, the micro:bit is no longer connected. The bluetooth connection can be lost for a few reasons:
- Make sure the BlueBird Connector is still open. The BlueBird Connector needs to remain open in the background in order to maintain connection to Snap!.
- Your computer may have fallen asleep and lost the bluetooth connection. Some computers will not maintain bluetooth connection when asleep. This can cause the Hummingbird Bit to disconnect. In the BlueBird Connector, you can reestablish a connection by disconnecting from your device and reconnecting it. We recommend adjusting your computer sleep settings as well.
- Your batteries may be low or the power connection is faulty. Low battery power will cause the Hummingbird Bit to disconnect. There may be enough battery life to power the micro:bit’s display, but not enough battery power to maintain a consistent bluetooth connection. There is a battery life indicator in the BlueBird Connector. Try switching out the batteries, then reconnect to the BlueBird Connector.
- Make sure you are running the most recent version of the BlueBird Connector application for Mac or Windows.
