The Finch Robot works with Snap!, Python, and Java. These programming languages range from easy drag-and-drop languages appropriate for kindergarteners to industry-standard, text-based programming environments.
On our portal select the device and software language you will use and you will be taken to an installation guide, step-by-step lessons, and project ideas for each programming language.
To give you time to test out programming languages and develop your curriculum, we send every first time loan recipient a test Finch a few months in advance of the loan period. You can use this Finch to try out different programming languages (and work out any potential IT glitches with your district’s computer systems). This Finch is yours to keep after the loan program is over!

I have ReplIt versions working for the Finch Robots for both Java and Python. The links for the ReplIts, and GitHub, can be found at http://www.wilsonpaul.net/ . I use them in both AP CS A with Java and AP CS Principles with Python in my classes. There are example “test” source files, as well as documentation, so my students are able to use it pretty easily, but I do give them a run-through first since it is “busy”.
